Some of the high profile sites that use link warehouses include Amazon.com, CNN, ABC News, CBS, MSN, Yahoo! -- yes, even Google. They all showcase special content and/or features on their home pages to draw people further into their sites.

link warehouse is just a page where you provide transient links to static content. Sound familiar? Sure. It sounds like a free-for-all page. However, a link warehouse is not open to the public like a free -for-all page. Only you, the warehouse operator, use the page. Furthermore, the link warehouse showcases your content for your visitors (regardless of whether they are people or robots). Free -for-all pages originated as add-ons for personal Web sites; they were only ever supposed to be secondary content.

One way to create a second layer is to include several pages in a sub-directory. So, if subdir1 included page1.html, page2.html, and page3.html in addition to index.html, you would have two content layers. Content layers are distinct from each another, and they may be siblings. That is, if subdir2 also has 3 pages besides its index page, you have three content layers, not two. Content layers can

Good intra-site organization makes it easier to design a redundant navigation system (redundancy is important, as it reduces page isolation). Intra-site organization also educates visitors. Be consistent in the way you organize your sites, and your visitors will quickly learn how to find what they seek.

optimizing a couple of sites that sell to a highly female audience, and one that sells to primarily men. Very different things have proven successful on those sites. The site selling primarily to guys got highest conversion rates from very linear pathways, clear calls to action, and um, "unsubtle" BUY NOW buttons. Images got click s, but often acted as distractions. For the sites with more female shoppers, a much less linear funnel with subtle calls to action and buying cues was most successful - as was "objective" information (in written article format - guys lik ed tables and specs). Women also lik ed navigation that made it easy to move "back wards" (at least in the sense of the linear buying funnels web analysts use to evaluate sites).
